During February, love month, fourth graders got inspired by Keith Haring colourful art. We discovered him, some of his paintings and how he often used hearts and showed different types of love in his art.

In groups, we posed for our partners and we all made our own "loving" art creation.

LOVELY MONDRIAN

During February, as it's Valentine's Day month, we worked on the feeloing of LOVE. Third graders discovered the Dutch artist, Piet Mondrian and his geometric abstraction style using only primary colours.
Apart from discovering a new artist, we learned to make a heart using symmetry, practised drawing parallel and perpendicular lines, coloring, cutting and pasting.

And we also made a big Mondrian-style painting to display our heart creations.

PICASSO MONSTERS

Last October-November, while working on the feeling of FEAR and Halloween, we discovered Picasso and his cubist figures.
We watched the video of the story Picasso's trousers to discover this wonderful artist.

We practiced our cutting skills, drawing shapes, symmetry, colour combination, ...

And we made monsters inspired by Picasso's art. You can see some examples below.

Fift graders made a different version of the same activity, using cardboard and scrap paper to make little sculptures.
