THE MAGIC OF COLOURS

As every year, 3rd graders were introduced to Art (it's their first year doing "Plástica" iun English at our school) by learning about the magic of colours. For that, we usually read "Little blue and little yellow" and then experiment with primary colours. And that's what we did, as you can watch on the video below:

WE'RE BACK!

Hi there!

Here you are the first post of this school year. This time it shows an activity done by 3rd grade "little artists".
This year, at school, we are working on the project "Around the world on top of a plate". One of the stops we've made has been Germany, European country from where we learned some information. Anna, an English teacher from Potsdam, in Germany, came and told us a lot of things about their traditions, food...
Since our town's main saint is Saint Martin, we learned that they have their own Saint Martin tradition, consisting of sharing Saint Martin croissants and having a parade to which kids bring in their homemade lanterns. After learning this, on 11th November, we made our own lanterns. You can see them in the presentation below.

HAPPY FAMILY DAY 2014!

Today, May 15th International Family Day is celebrated, so, to show our families how appreciated they are, in our bilingual Art lessons we made a little something for them. We made stained glass candle holders (they can be also used as flower vases).
We brought a glass jar to school (from jam, youghourt, ...). We cut some TISSUE PAPER into little pieces and made 4 different colour combinations. After that, we were ready. We took GLUE, spread it all over the jar and stick the tossue paper.

After the hard work (our hands became VERY STICKY!), we put them to dry. Meanwhile, we started making our family day cards. We drew our family using thumb prints.

Once they were dry, this is what we got :)

We wrapped them.

And took them home!

Well done, kids! I hope your families loved them!

PS: HAPPY FAMILY DAY!

BLOOMING CREATURES FROM UNDER THE SEA

Hi kids!

Here's the video with some of our under the sea spring creations!

Our mermen and mermaids are inspired by Picasso portraits. We used the "Roll a Picasso face" dice game (it was super fun and useful!). The we designed their bodies. Then we invented their personality, likes and dislikes and described them. We then used them to play "Guess who" (this mini project was related to our physical description lessons).

The submarines are inspired by Pop art patterns, lines and colours! Third graders decided the Beatles needed a new updated version of their yellow submarine.

DRAWING FACIAL EXPRESSIONS

These days we are working on a Stop Motion animation. After making the storyboard, we started creating our characters (using plasticine, different kinds of paper, ...). One of the important things when creating a character for an animation is that it has to express, his gestures should talk. For this, we've been learning how to draw different facial expressions with this short presentation.

FACIAL EXPRESSIONS on PhotoPeach

We have also used the following printable activities and then we practised drawing different expressions.
