AZTEC SUNS - 5th GRADE CALENDARS

In 5th grade, as a theme for our 2015 calendar, we decided to draw Aztec Suns. In the classroom, as part of our 2014-2015 school project ("Around the world on top of a plate"), they are studying Mexico and its ancient history and culture.

For our Art work, we worked on basic shapes: oval, lines, diamonds..., symmetry and colour contrast, combining cool and warm colours in our creations. We drew the suns and their features and then divided the background into 2 or 4 parts that we decorated with patterns. We coloured it with Manley and pastel crayons and traced it both with crayons and markers.
